President Report - 2002

2002 NAFAA Conference
Alexis Park Resort Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada
October 8 & 9, 2002
Theme: "Working Magic for Your Students... Solving the Mysteries of Financial Aid"

Dear NAFAA Member:
I'm excited about being your NAFAA president for 2002-03. As I take on this new leadership role I do want you to know that I am interested in knowing your thoughts regarding the direction NAFAA should take to become bigger and better.

NAFAA has made a lot of good progress over the years under the leadership of our past presidents. With your help, I would like to continue these efforts. Below are probably some of the same goals you have seen in the past but I feel strong about making them become reality. If you would like to assist with the efforts of your executive council to accomplish stated goals please contact me to let me know the area for which you would like to serve. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.

Goals for 2002-03:
  • Technology - follow-through with updated web site & listserv.
  • Increase the NAFAA membership, include more private & proprietary schools.
  • See more members involved in our state association.
  • Provide training opportunities for support staff and southern NV, considering direct lending schools, private & proprietary school needs.
  • Survey members to see if there is something else we need to offer that we currently aren't offering to help them in the profession.
  • More accountability from committee chairs - would like chairs to submit a report to the executive council every three months (July/Oct/Jan/April) regarding current activity. Info can be used in the WASFAA newsletter and we can send info out to our membership.
  • Find out and share the history of NAFAA.
  • Be an advocate for students.
  • Provide input regarding the upcoming reauthorization process.
I know we will have a great year because as financial aid administrators we already know how to work magic to see dreams come true.

Sincerely,
Marsha Dupree, NAFAA President
